Black Scale Inc. was engaged by Home Depot to complete the installation of two bathrooms, each equipped with two stalls, within their Tucson, Arizona location. The project aimed to enhance the functionality and accessibility of the bathrooms, ensuring they met ADA compliance standards and provided a comfortable experience for customers and employees alike.
Key Project Elements
- Bathroom Stalls:
- Installed four high-quality, durable bathroom stalls across two bathrooms. Each stall was designed with privacy and durability in mind, featuring materials that are resistant to wear and easy to maintain.
- The layout was optimized to ensure efficient use of space while maintaining accessibility for all users.
- ADA Compliant Accessories:
- Grab Bars: Installed ADA-compliant grab bars in each stall, placed at the required height of 33-36 inches above the floor, ensuring accessibility for all users.
- Toilet Paper Dispensers: Positioned dispensers within ADA guidelines—15-19 inches above the floor and within 7-9 inches from the toilet.
- Additional Bathroom Accessories:
- Mirrors: Installed mirrors at ADA-specified heights to ensure they were accessible to individuals in wheelchairs.
- Soap Dispensers and Hand Dryers: Mounted dispensers and hand dryers at the required heights, ensuring ease of use and compliance with ADA standards.
Challenges and Solutions
- Challenge: Working within the tight operational schedule of Home Depot to avoid disruptions during business hours.
